1.NounInflammation of the retina and the optic papilla, usually as a part of optic neuritis; depending on nosologic approach, viewed as synonymous with, hyponymous to, or differentiable from any of the following: papillitis, retinal papillitis, optic papillitis, optic neuritis, and papilledema.
